KC Global Design continues to strengthen KC’s talent and reputation within the industry by supporting the next generation of talent, further developing our region as a top design city.
Share the KC Love, KC Global Design’s annual intern event, connected A/E/C interns and featured a panel of recently established design professionals. Panelists dove into the unspoken questions of entering the design industry, gave advice and shared their unique experiences.

Interns networked together over a philanthropic activity hosted by Operation Breakthrough, designing festive birthday cards for children living in poverty around the KC region.
The event was hosted by KC Global Design firm, Grundfos, the largest pump manufacturer in the world. On a guided tour of the grounds, attendees learned more about the design industry and its importance to KC.
The Highlights
The panel discussed a prominent intern concern — transitioning from an internship to an industry job. Many panel members secured jobs quickly after graduating or were hired by their internship companies, and they emphasized the value of a well-rounded skill set.
Since this was also a networking event, attendees wanted to know how to maximize the benefit of connecting with others in the industry. Panelists touched on event preparation, internal networking and impactful follow-up.
Panelists also addressed the positive effects of design projects on the surrounding community. Being from the KC region, many get the opportunity to witness the impact of their work on real people. Examples include improving their highschool football stadium and redeveloping the park where they grew up playing soccer.
